Anyone Need a Google Wave Invitation?

Google's latest buzz is called "Buzz". I'm still wondering if there are people who still uses complex service Google Wave, after the launch of Google Buzz. I'm a big fan of Buzz and am pretty regular at it. Last time I logged in to my Wave account and noticed that I'm given the power of inviting others to Wave account. I don't know if there are people still interested in trying out Google Wave. However, if there are people out there who are still hunting for a Google Wave invitation, request one here.

Introducing the Google Chrome Operating System!

2

Breaking news: Google released a note saying that it is to release its first operating system for computers named Google Chrome OS by the second half of the next year.

A hope was floating on the net whether Google will design a completely new operating system for computers after they had created a brand new OS for mobile named Android. Right now, the hope has turned into a news — as Google says, its first browser was created for the next generation web-world. But Chrome still runs on the operating systems which were designed for a generation which has been passed. Now, Google is going to design a new operating system for the next generation web-world — named Google Chrome Operating System.

According to the note of Google, Google Chrome OS will initally (in mid-2010) be targeted at netbooks. It is expected that the OS for PC users will be available by the end of the next year. This will be another open-source and lightweight version of OS.

Here goes a little paragraph from the Google note:

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.

Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and Google is working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. In the Google Chrome OS, all application will automatically work and any developer can write any application using the latest technology they like. The software architecture of Google Chrome OS is — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.

A while ago when Microsoft launched its new search engine, the people around said that the competition between Google and Microsoft has just got bigger. But we forgot that it was Google — who made the competition much more difficult by entering into the most competitive market — operating system – while there are popular operating systems like Linux and Windows 7.

Of course a lot of questions are coming up to mind. But as usual, Google did not clarify everything. We have just been notified that, Google is entering the Operating System market by the second half of the next year.

What do we know

There’s no certain information about Google. But there’s some predictions. Just like:

  • The OS is possibly going to be free-of-cost. Since Google said that it’s an open-source browser, there is still hope that the Google Chrome Operating System will be available at no cost.
  • Advertisements maybe found on Google Chrome OS. If Google is going to release it at no cost, then there’s a prediction that Google may advertise on it. For a fresh example, while browsing your hard drive’s music files, a couple of advertisements in anywhere of the window will grab your attention to buy music online. Note: This is just a prediction. We still don’t have any clear information about this.

Can Google beat Microsoft?

With the first post of Google Chrome OS, Google just dropped a nuclear bomb on Microsoft. Now, the question is, we all know about the products of Google. Speed, simplicity, user-friendliness, security etc are the main things that makes a Google product perfect. Google said that the new OS from Google’s key aspect will be Speed, Simplicity and Security. However, we still can’t really imagine what Google is going to give us. But there’s no restriction to predict the future.

So, the question is simple. Do you think Google Chrome Operating System can beat Windows? What do you expect from Google Chrome OS?

  • I'm waiting for the Google OS, I wish this will be smarter and easier and fastest ever.

  • @ Sakib, though there are still confusions if Google can beat Windows, but one thing is sure that Google OS will be the fastest, simplest and the smartest Operating System ever. I'm hopeful about it. One year to go. :(
  • @Md. Aminul Islam Sajib,

Yah, I hope so. But, nowadays tired of using Windows. Now, looking for different OS. Also, wants to use Apple but tons of limitations.

Feedback: "GET Fed" Spelling error below the nav. bar area or right hand side of your welcome msg.

  • @Sakib, I thought Mac is a smart OS and I was thinking to take a look at Mac. I never used Linux still I don't know why I don't find any interest in it.

And by the way, thanks for the feedback. That is not a spelling error. That means, "Get Fed" -- where fed is the past participle form of Feed. In general, I [my blog] feeds you. And this message says you to be fed yourself. ;) Got it?

Interesting news... But then again Windows is very popular and for those who plays games and online games (MMORPG, RTG etc) I don't think that game developers will make those compatible with new OS in near future, so those people have nothing to do but stay with Windows OS... :(

  • It's not a bombshell for Windows - because Windows is too big to touch at the moment. I believe Google is not targetting to fight with Microsoft directly, but first trying to bring all their services under the hood. So people will feel comfortable and and may decide to switch to Chrome OS.

It's long way to go ... too early to predict.
    .-= J U Hasan´s last blog ..Microsoft to unveil free anti-virus software =-.
  • @J U Hasan, Well, I agree it's obviously too early to predict anything, and Google is definitely not fighting with Microsoft at this stage. But as a business strategy, it is definitely targetting to beat Microsoft somehow it can. Any company releasing an OS means they are in a competition with Microsoft.

By the way, it is a bombshell for Windows. If you think I'm saying this because I have a very little knowledge, then I'd like to tell you that the sentence is not mine. Millions of people out there including big analysts are saying that Microsoft got a serious bombshell from Google. Though we are still unsure if Microsoft can be beated, we can at least wait [and expect] for a smarter, clean, super-fast, simple, and secure operating system from Google.

    Thanks for commenting.
  • @Md. Aminul Islam Sajib, I've not said you have insufficient knowledge.

Look, people say Linux is better than Windows, but how many people has switched to Linux. Provably Linux users will be just 1% of total PC users. Because Microsoft has built a repuration for these years no new comer can hit that fast.

I'm a hardcore Google fan, but still I don't want to be too happy too fast. Developing a browser and developing an OS is totally different - I'm mainly worried about of compatibility with existing programs. It will take long time to replace Windows.
    .-= J U Hasan´s last blog ..Microsoft to unveil free anti-virus software =-.
  • @J U Hasan, Yep, I agree. It will take too long time to get 50% of total Windows users. But who cares about time?

Personally I think one day Google will be the boss in every field. They are already the king of online world. Let's see if they can win the desktop world too.
  • Actually most of the people are adopted in windows. So it is hard to appear as a giant exposure in the field of OS. And also people dont like to upgrade their hardware or utility softwares to taste a new OS. And i think google can never compete with Linux(Millions of developers are contributing for Linux where google is just a Inc.) So at my opinion it is gonna be another failed project. But it is really a great initiative from google(they even can think anything which is not associated with bux)
    Anyway, great post :)
.-= Romel´s last blog ..Get Hidden Backlinks | Method Exposed!!! =-.
  • @Romel, Thank you brother. I don't think it is going to be a failed project. Yea there's possibilty that Google may fail to beat Windows, but that does not mean the project is failed.

Linux couldn't beat Windows so far. So, will you say Linux is a failed OS? Obviously not.
  • Is it just like the Google chrome? Man, nothing can beat firefox and the same can go for windows and mac. Let's see what google has to offer us.
.-= Tamal Anwar´s last blog ..More ways to make money online with Social Spark =-.
  • @Tamal Anwar, Not sure, but certainly it's not going to be a CC of Chrome.
Man, I believe that. But I do not agree that nothing can beat Windows. Linux is still on its way to becoming more popular than windows. But Google's entrance will interrupt Linux's journey, I guess.
  • Will this OS be available for offline use? Like the traditional operating systems?
    .-= maSnun´s last blog ..Just installed a great theme — P2 on ht… =-.
  • @maSnun, In fact, we're still unaware of that. Google has a habit of keeping things hidden to suddenly surprise the world. So, you will have to wait until the end of the next year to see Google OS in action.
