Social Networking websites are something that is making the world wide web more powerful, supportive and essential. There are more than necessary social networking websites on the net. Most of us do a little mistake choosing the right platform for us. Some of us think that social networking is nothing but a waste of time. I bet, it is not a waste of time if you choose the platform you use wisely. All you have to do is to try to understand what is required by you or what type of social networking you’d like to use. Let’s have a look on these points.

Facebook

If you are looking for some kind of social networking website to share everything with some limited friends, if you want to share your thoughts, websites or preferred blog post’s URL, photo, video etc, if you are looking for something where you can spend hours and hours, then you can choose Facebook, the most powerful social networking website in the world. Facebook connects you with the people around you.  You can search for your old friends by typing their email addresses in the searchbox. You can even make completely new friends by the advantage of “People you may know” feature which is generally helpful for facebook users. So, if the abovementioned features are wanted by you, then you can go for Facebook. As all others, Facebook is free to use and you can immediately start Facebooking by registering with them. To register, click here and fill up the form.

Good sides: Facebook is good; because you are always connected with a lot of people around you. Whenever you upload any content like Notes, Photos, Videos etc, it automatically sends a message to all of your friends’ dashboard and remains until any other friend of that person does anything else. That means, you are always connected through facebook.

Bad sides: Cookies have both good and bad sides. Facebook has, too. Bad sides are, although you have total control over your privacy and the content you upload, facebook reserves all the right to do any kind of business (even sell all the profile information to third-party websites). Whenever you update any information about you, facebook preserves if for ever. Even if you delete your account, your identity and personal information will remain in the Facebook’s database. In this view, you are immortal in Facebook once you are there. So think again before going to the Facebook.

Hi5

We’ve talked a lot about facebook. Now let’s have another look over hi5, competitor social networking site of Facebook.

Well, that means hi5 competes with Facebook. Though both seems quite same, but differences do exist between them. For example, if you want your profile to be shown publicly in hi5, you can do so while your facebook profile can be seen by only your friends or friends of friends. Moreover, you can’t customize your facebook profile while you have total control over your hi5 profile. You can design your hi5 profile with your own unique style. So if you like to make your profile as well as you want it, then you may go for hi5. Registration is that easy and as usual free of cost. Click here and be a part of hi5.

Note: Another similar social networking website is named “MySpace”. If you prefer using hi5, then you can also choose myspace for your social networking media. There are very less differences between hi5 and myspace. Myspace can be visited by clicking here.

Twitter

Now, we are talking about something which generally remains silent but doing a lot to the people indeed. Yes, perhaps you don’t even know about twitter. According to my own-made definition of Twitter, “Twitter is something that silently rocks within the range of 140 characters”. Yes, 140 characters are all you can do with your twitter platform. Twitter is not really called a Social Networking website. Instead, it is called The Largest and most popular and most populous micro-blogging platform in the surface of Earth!

You can’t share your photos with your friends in twitter. You can’t even share your videos, music or anything you do in Facebook. Twitter was designed with a whole new and completely different concept. Twitter is only for letting your “followers” know “What are you doing”. Yes, that’s all twitter is.

Friends are called followers in twitter. You can follow anyone’s update. They don’t need to accept your request. In the same way, anyone can follow you, too, unless you block him/her from being followed by him/her. In twitter, you have a limited range of 140 characters to share the answer of “What are you doing” with all of your followers. You can even earn money from twiiter if you gain more than a thousand followers. Sounds good, huh? I’m an addicted twitter user and I would strongly recommend you to have an account in twitter. Apparently it is useless. But do you know about its revolution? Let’s gain a bit knowledge about it.

Have you noticed the recent change in facebook layout? Do you see the status updates are given higher priority in the redesigned layout of facebook? Do you know why they did this? Well, I’ll let you know that, they are doing this to beat twitter! They have got a competitive mind since they realized twitter can even beat facebook in the near future. According to some unknown sources, Facebook tried to buy twitter against several million US dollars but twitter rejected the offer. And now, news is floating everywhere that the online giant Google is trying to acquire Twitter. So, twitter is going to be the next Google. I think now you are interested to have an account in twitter. If you are still interested, then I think I failed to write accurately about Twitter as I’m not very good in English. Start using twitter, you’ll get it by yourself. Status updates are called “tweets” in twitter. So start tweeting. Let your friends/followers know “What are you doing”.

Conclusion

I have a passion of writing blog posts. I had no topic to write about. Suddenly I remembered one of my friends told once “Social networking websites are nothing but a perfect time-killing machine”. I’ve written this post especially for him. Am I successful to prove that Social Networking can be used in a beneficial way? Please let me know. The comments are open for you.
